Pacific
EDS First has a strong focus and particular expertise in sustainable development issues impacting the Pacific region having worked in nearly all of the Pacific Island Countries over the past twenty years. Some major programs have included economic analysis on the impact of globalisation and technological innovation for Pacific Island Countries, advisory work on the feasibility, negotiation and implementation of trade agreements, capacity building support for key Pacific Island institutions such as the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat and the Pacific Island Private Sector Organisation and work on regional and bilateral labour mobility programs.
South East Asia
EDS First, through a range of short and ongoing projects and assignments, has worked across Southeast Asia. As part of our network, one of the founding Directors’ is located in Jakarta and we maintain a regional office there. Work has covered all six of EDS First areas of expertise. However, the range of assignments has been concentrated in the areas of program design, M&E, private sector development, governance and trade and aid for trade. Country focus has been greatest in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao and Myanmar. It has however also included less obvious countries such as Brunei and Malaysia as part of the work supporting trade policy.
South Asia
EDS First has completed assignments in all eight South Asia countries. Work has included Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, as well as, the other countries. The assignments have been varied but have covered the six areas of expertise: design and M&E, PSD and governance, Training and capacity building, Trade and Aid for trade, regional cooperation and social inclusion and gender.
Africa
In Africa, EDS First has been involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of numerous institutional and private sector capacity building programs in relation to governance and economic reform strategies, trade policy and aid for trade utilisation programs, poverty and gender analysis research and case-studies and advice on regional cooperation programs.
Central Asia
EDS First has successfully completed for multilateral donors a number of assignments in Central Asia. These assignments have primarily focused on Private Sector Development and good Governance. Countries covered have included Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
